Looking to work on making Dagon more cozy during quarantine. Would it be worth it to upgrade to a larger tank? I thought a 30 gallon would be enough but hes about as long as the tank is wide now and I'd hate for him to feel cramped

I feel absolutely awful and stupid. The light above my Axolotl's tank had gone out after many years, never had a different one. Searched tirelessly on the internet for one that looked exactly the same, even the same make - Arcadia. To my horror, this new light has killed my precious Axolotl Alex; the other - Sid, is now in a separate container, critical but seems to be stabilising. I'll never forgive myself, the light is obviously not the correct one and it's far too harsh - not suitable at all, although from an aquatics shop? And actually dimmer than the previous light. Could anyone please tell me what has happened here. I can't think straight I'm furious I let this happen. PLEASE give any advice to help Sid recover, he's leucistic - but his colour is off and darker, skin seems to be flaking slightly from the horrible light. I've put him in cooler water from reading online, his gills are moving once every 10 seconds at the moment Thank you all 😰

Questions from a new owner

Hi, I just got an Axolotl as a birthday gift two days ago. I haven't fed him yet because I was letting him acclimate to his new environment but I was going to tonight, he's about an inch big right now and I'm worried that feeding him a tiny bit of bloodworm every 2-3 days isn't enough for his age.

I was going to buy some sand to put on the bottom of the tank for him, any recommendations for sand that he can't accidentally get hurt by from swallowing?

Also I was thinking of getting some aquarium wallpaper to put on two sides of the tank (it's a 5.5 gallon), something similar to what he would see in the wild. Is this ok? Would it affect the temperature of the tank too much? My temp has been around 68-72 Fahrenheit usually.
