Axolotl Behavior Question

Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:58 AM PDT

I have two males (both around 1 year old) in one tank. Since we introduced them to each other a few months ago, every so often they'll start doing the axolotl "mating dance" with each other, where they push each other around for a bit, chase each other and are generally the most active I ever see them. Their cloaca are usually very enlarged when this happens.

We check the water parameters weekly and they're fine, and both axolotls are eating and are nice and healthy.

My question is: is this behavior normal? I have no problem with it,I just want to make sure sure they're healthy. It just seemed so odd to me that every so often they'll go wild after each other's butts! 😂 I can post a video if anyone wants to see the behavior I'm talking about. Thanks!

My axolotl hasn’t grown since I got her. Why?

Posted: 05 Apr 2020 08:58 AM PDT

"She" was severely injured and malnourished when we purchased her. She was in a tank with several other baby's and she had a missing leg and a chip out of her tail. All of that has healed and she's in a 40 gallon fully cycled tank with hides and stuff and I feed her a almost full worm every other day but she still looks the same since the day I got her which is about 4/5 inches even though i've had her since august.

Hello friends!!

Posted: 04 Apr 2020 11:51 AM PDT

So I am in the beginning process of researching filters, tanks, etc for getting an axolotl once everything is all cycled and ready to rumble. Is there any specific products and or tips that you all have, I would really appreciate any and all advice. I just want to make sure my future lotl has a happy and healthy life. Thank you 😊
