Constipated

I'm pretty sure my axie is constipated his back leg is sticking up and he is floating. I've read several solutions such as putting him in the fridge or feeding them less or more. What do you think is the best solution?

Axolotl's Livin' Together Part 2

Posted: 18 Apr 2020 11:27 PM PDT

Hey axolotl community!! Back again with some more questions regarding having two axis in a tank.

I've decided I do want another but I still got some questions that I would so appreciate answers to!!

So, my axi is about 8 to 9 months old. He's about 6 1/2 to 7 inches. He's been chillin' in a 10 gal tank and is doing just fine.

However, in regards to adding another tankmate for him, I wanna know:

  1. Is it better to wait until he is a year old to get another one just so he doesn't try to go all cannibalistic? I've seen that it's recommended to house two adult axolotls since younger ones tend to chomp each other.

  2. If I were to buy another, I assume the new one should also be the same age. Again, to not risk that one getting attacked?

  3. 20gal is a must for two axis? My 10gal has a lot of space for my one axi but of course, I assume he'll grow and a 10gal is no home for two axis, correct?

  4. When IS the exact time an axolotl can live with another? How old do they really have to be?

If you've got any more information you wanna share, I would absolutely love to hear it!!! Thank you so much everyone!!!
