Purchased a mystery snail from PetSmart, now I have a baby snail. Thought they couldn't reproduce asexually?!?

Hi, I purchased what was labeled as a mystery snail from PetSmart in December. 2 weeks ago it had two bundles of eggs that I removed. It had 2 more bunches this week, that I just removed. While feeding my fish today I saw a baby snail. All my reading said mystery snails can't reproduce asexually? What the heck?!? Also how do I stop getting more snails. I only wanted 1 to begin with and I'm scared there will be a million more soon.

Will a mystery snail work in 3.5 gallons?

Posted: 20 Apr 2020 07:46 AM PDT

Hello everyone!

I'm new to snail keeping and aquariums in general. I have a 3.5 gallon tank with a single (non-aggressive) betta, live plants (mostly Java fern), a heater set to 78, and a filter. From what I've read 3.5 gallons is small for a snail but only because of the risk of them not having enough food to graze on and starving. If I provide algae wafers and other additional food sources, would a single mystery snail be ok in my tank?

If so, how often should I feed and what foods would you recommend besides wafers/ any other general advice.

If not, what requirements am I not meeting that should be met for proper snail health.

Thank you in advance. I'm still learning and appreciate any information/advice.

Unused acquarium

Posted: 20 Apr 2020 06:18 AM PDT

Hi guys I have this 30l acquarium that I don't use for fishes since my betta passed away the other day so i was wondering if I could build an only snail acquarium, since i have some in my second one and they do an awesome job against algae. Any tips about "farming snails"?
