Please help me figure out a quarantine tank! Posted: 22 Apr 2020 06:43 PM PDT Two years ago, we got a house with a 2500 gallon pond and two beautiful gigantic koi. Despite the vet's best efforts, we lost one of our fish to a very sudden bacterial infection this morning. Our remaining fish is obviously heartbroken without her buddy (as are we) and has probably never been alone before in her 20+ years. So we want to build a quarantine tank and get her some friends as quickly as possible, but I'm really overwhelmed by the whole process. I've been calling local pond services, fish stores, and koi dealers all day and either they don't even want to talk it through with me or I'm too far away for them to be willing to help. If someone would be willing to take a look at my plan before I spend hundreds of dollars on it, I'd be super grateful. This is obviously a "happy beloved pets" scenario, not a show/breeding/etc production, and we're planning on a 6 week quarantine. We're hoping to add 4 additional koi, probably somewhere between 7- 10", and aren't attached to getting them all at once if 150 gallons won't be big enough for all of them (the internet seems very divided on how big your quarantine tank needs to be).
