Aquatic Koi Hell Week Continues |
Posted: 29 Apr 2020 03:54 PM PDT UGH... So I posted the other day about my skimmer trapping my fish. Well things have gone from bad to worse. My favorite fish upped and died out of nowhere this morning. Had her for 7 years and had shown ZERO signs of issues. The most active and friendly fish in the pond. Pulled her out of the pond, gills were fine and she was as pristine as the day that I brought her home so no hook worms or koi lice. Then I look in to see another one of my smaller original butterflies is barely alive and flopping around the surface pond. It is spitting out water and gasping above the surface, then drops down about two feet and just sits up against the wall. I took a sample of the water to the local pond store and the water once again came out perfect, salt, levels, everything. I am at a total loss at what could possibly be happening as is the incredibly experienced person at the pond store. I am noticing that a couple of the other fish are acting strangely now and starting swim more with their fins tucked in, but this behavior is coming and going with one that was acting a bit weird the other, now acting more normal again. The pond store owner no longer thinks this is stress for the fish coming out of winter and that something has happened/is happening, but with no clue what it is, he is wary of just treating the pond willy nilly as it could put more unnecessary stress on the fish. Any help figuring out what we could possibly be missing would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |
