This shrimp actively hunts and eats healthy guppy fry. None of my other shrimp do this.

What should I know before getting shrimp? I have questions.

Posted: 29 Mar 2020 09:52 PM PDT

I currently have a 29g with neon tetras, guppies, Cory, dwarf rainbow, and nerite snails.

I've had amano shrimp sometime ago and I had an ammonia spike and killed them. Not sure what caused the spike, I did everything the same I did before with water changes. I was told make my water was "too clean" and need bacteria and I might have got "new tank syndrome".

I want to buy amano shrimp and cherry shrimp.

Can I have different shrimp together in one tank? Are my fish shrimp safe? Do I need to remineralize my water? Do I need to add beneficial bacteria to water changes?

Keeping Red Cherry Shrimp in Caridina Parameters?

Posted: 29 Mar 2020 07:25 PM PDT

Hi I have a 20 gallon long tank that I want to add cherry shrimp to but I do not have any salty shrimp salt to raise the GH and KH, I do however have the Salty Bee Shrimp salt that raises GH and I was wondering if it was possible to keep Red Cherry shrimp in parameters suitable for caridinas? Also would it be safe to add some dwarf cories and galaxy rasbora without the parameters bothering them?. The tank is moderately planted with Jungle Val, Dwarf Hairgrass, and 1 Amazon Sword. The bottom is miracle gro organic soil capped with sand. Thank you in advance!
