A couple questions about TDS, KG, and GH.

Posted: 17 Mar 2020 10:43 PM PDT

I am somewhat confused and was hoping someone could dumb it down for me. So I was currently cycling a tank to put some Caridina shrimp in it and from what I understand they like a TDS of 100-200, GH of 4-6, and KH of 0-4. My tanks current parameters are TDS 112, GH 6, KH 1. So I am just now realizing that whenever I add something like fish food, put my hand, or do anything with the the water the TDS goes up. Do I gotta do a water change every time the TDS goes too high? Also this might be dumb but wouldn't adding more stuff to the tank also change GH and KH? How do I keep all of this under control? Can someone please dumb this stuff down for me? Thank you so much!!

Hi guys today I noticed something very strange in my neocaridina tank, they all have little white worms on their head and "nose". Most of the aquarium shops here are closed because of the coronavirus what can I do? Sorry for my bad english

finally realized what was killing my shrimp, can now fix it and have healthy shrimp!!

Posted: 17 Mar 2020 03:39 PM PDT

ok, so for a few weeks i had been seeing less and less shrimp in my tank, and would occasionally scoop out a dead one, i'm very ashamed it took me so long to realize but i'd been extremely busy and with both of my schools and also my job, but i finally realized it was because the food i give my fish has small amounts of copper in it, i'd checked before but i'm kinda dyslexic or maybe just stupid so i didn't read it correctly, it was absolutely crushing me 24/7 that i was responsible for them dying so i'm so glad to finally know why and know how to stop it, sadly i only have a few left, but i'm gonna first make sure everything in my tank is 100% ok for shrimp and then maybe get some more, i will definitely be more conscious of every single ingredient going into my tank in the future
