Reef Tank - Aquariums - My 65g reef tank

My 65g reef tank

My slice of the ocean! First reef tank, and it’s almost 6 months old! I have 20 coral frags, and added a green bubble tip, and leopard wrasse sense the picture. Realized I have a massive flatworm invasion this weekend and working to battle that (reason I got the wrasse). Let me know what you think!

My clowns are hosting the the green bubble tip I put in two days ago! Now if I could just figure out why my nem decided to position himself in such an odd way...

Old/dead algae as CUC food?

Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:45 PM PST

Hey, all. I got a piece of formerly-live, then dead rock when I purchased a tank of Craigslist a while back. I soaked it for a day or two in RODI water, let it dry out for 3 or 4 days, and then used it in my current tank (up and running).

There's still some 'dead' algae on it; I didn't scrub it off because, honestly, I didn't see it (it's colorless, kind of adhered to the rock when it was dry), and so far it appears to be completely dead: it hasn't grown, hasn't spread, and all of it's still colorless. I'd still like to get it off the rock if possible, though, so I'm curious if this would still be able to act as food for a CUC and, if so, what species would be good to use. Thanks!

How often and how much water do you change on your reef/marine tank?

Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:43 PM PST

Just wondering, some people say they do a 20-30% every week, and others say rarely and just rely on ATO or manually topping off. Coming from the FW side where I do a 60-70% water change on my cichlid tank weekly and do a water change on my planted tanks once every 2-3 months.

[Help] Best lighting for nano reef?

Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:32 PM PST

I currently have a 10 gallon nano tank. Lighting is just fine for fish but most definitely will not be able to support coral. I've decided to start out with soft corals so I need some recommendations for some lighting. The tank currently has a lid on it and I dont want to remove it or buy a new one, so I'm not sure if there's a way I could add some strip lights to the bottom of the tank? Any recommendations or advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Curious. Can you mix small clownfish with an already existing clownfish pair?
