Day 1

6 line wrasse has taken to cleaning tank mates. Have only seen it pick at the dwarf angelfish so far, but he's doing it pretty consistently. Hoping now that he's started he might get to the other fish if they learn to signal

Update: I freed the brittle star. Here he is just before I learned I could dismantle the overflow wall (I inherited this tank). He snatched this bit of krill from my hand and held it there for a few minutes. When I opened the wall, he snatched some more and hid under the rocks.

Modding an unconventional aquarium stand?

Modding an unconventional aquarium stand?

So the sand for the Biocube 29 is nothing but a table, the legs have cross members as you can see.

Is that big enough to fit a water change/sump/(refugium -if really adventurous) setup under there? I was thinking of putting 2x4's under the cross bars to re-enforce them and then set plywood on top of those with some kind of thin skirt with magnets to hide it all? Worried about cutting those crossbars and having the entire thing come down.

What do you all think?

Tank nuked and I am out of town, I feel numb

Posted: 10 Mar 2020 04:02 PM PDT

I had to leave Texas to attend a memorial service in West Virginia. I did a water change on Friday and left town on Saturday, had my auto feeders set to drop flakes and seaweed.

This afternoon, I get a call from my mom, who has been dropping by the house and she tells me that all my fish are dead and sends me pics.

Looks like corals are ok, as well as my cleaner shrimp.

I am beside myself trying to guess what went wrong. Thank an at a hotel in Kentucky for the night and have 700 miles to cover tomorrow before I launch my official investigation.

Did the doser go rouge, is there stray voltage, ammonia spike? I have nothing at this point, but questions.

May my fish friends rest in power.

Hug your fish tight tonight friends!
