This ranchu has kind of a bent spine. The LFS gave it to me for cheap.

hi so i'm kinda a noob so i need ur help. my goldfish is in a really bad condition. it shares a tank with 2 others. i've has it for 5 years but it seems to be dying. it's stuck at the bottom of the tank and can't swim. it's rolled over and can't eat. it's scales are scratched and fins are torn. i've been hand feeding it for the past 2 weeks. please give me advice and tell me what could have caused this. Ranchu spawning

Posted: 10 Mar 2020 08:23 PM PDT

My ranchu laid eggs some few weeks ago. But unfortunately, i haven't got the time to take care of the eggs, and also my male ranchu isn't in condition to release milt that much. So only a few hatched, and eventually died.

Now I'm trying to condition my female ranchu again to spawn. I feed live foods such as tubifex worms and my own mosquito larvae culture. Raised the temperature a little, day by day. But still my female ranchu doesn't seem to spawn any time soon.

You guys have any tips to induce spawning for them? I'm in a tropical country so seasons are not problem here.

Canister filter.

For those of you who have a canister filter, how do you have the output set? I have mine blowing the water tword the top of the tank. Or should I put it facing down to the bottom of the tank? 🤔 I moved it a few times and I watch them swim for a while, but I'd like to know what you guys do.

New 30 gallon goldfish tank!

Posted: 10 Mar 2020 03:51 PM PDT

I recently bought a second hand 30 gallon tank with gravel, two filters (Aqua Clear 50 and 150) and some other equipment. I'll make sure to thoroughly wash and cycle it.

I'd love to put some type of fancy goldfish in it. Probably not planted.

I'm wondering, what type of goldfish (and how many) could fit in it? What type(s) need the least amount of space?

Should I add any decorations (I love the look of a bare tank, but if they need hiding spots I'll make sure to add some)?

And should I keep the gravel or do a bare-bottom?

I've never kept goldfish before, thanks in advance!

I have a question about possible tumors

Posted: 10 Mar 2020 12:23 AM PDT

A couple weeks ago, I saw this gorgeous, pretty large ryukin at a pet store. When I first saw it a couple weeks ago, I noticed some very small whitish bits on the first ray of it's dorsal fin. They didn't look like fungus or anything you'd typically see on a sick fish.

Yesterday I was back at that shop again and the fish is still there. The tiny specks on the dorsal are now the size of a large pin head, somewhat lumpy, and they honestly look like small tumors. There's also a dimpled black spot forming on its side, just in front of the tail.

I didn't take a photo of the fish yesterday, but can they even grow tumors along a ray? The fish is active, swims well, and seems to be in good health except for these weird spots.

I'm not wanting to buy it, I'm just curious about it's condition.
