Suggestions for 5.5gal tank?

I recently had all of my fish but the cory in my 5.5 gallon tank pass away due to a string of unfortunate events. (I'm pretty sure I'm gonna move the cory up to the 29 gallon but it's afflicted by Ich and I don't want him to get it, so I'm waiting on it.) I'm just wondering what you guys would suggest for a 5.5g tank. Substrates, plants, etc. It's a bare bottom atm with some rocks and plants but I'm willing to spruce it up.
