Cheap hardscape

Posted: 24 Feb 2020 06:24 AM PST

Figured I'd give the community here a heads up on how to obtain cheap hardscape. As we all know, the LFS often charges a premium for things like rocks, driftwood, and substrate. It can be very easy to spend a lot of money at the LFS on such things and can quickly eat into your budget. You really don't need to spend that kind of money and there is a much cheaper option available, the landscape supply yard.

At landscape supply yards, you can buy everything I said above for a very small fraction of what the LFS charges. Most of the landscape supply yards charge by the pound for their product, so you can walk away not emptying your wallet. I recently helped a friend set up a 90 gallon African cichlid aquarium and spent a whole $30 and some change on close to 100lb worth of rock.

I'm sure many here know this tip, but I felt I'd pass it along to those not in the know. Oftentimes those supply yards will have quite a variety of rocks, some that even the LFS may not carry.

NSFW Came into work today to all of my office tank dead. :( Don't know what caused it. I did a water change Friday, they had normal behavior on Saturday.

Fish noob here. I got an all-in-one tank, and sometimes my guppies look like they’re getting blasted across the tank in the aerated bubble stream. Is my pump too strong or something?

Should I move my Panda cories from the tank on the right to the tank on the left?

Bloodworms Question

After you feed frozen bloodworms to a fresh water tank, how long before you should remove the uneaten food?
