I picked up 10 Astrea snails a few weeks back after a tank crash, and noticed tonight that one of them has some sort of SPS growing on its back!

LPS corals polyp bailout help!

Posted: 06 Jan 2020 06:42 PM PST

We are having issues with our tank. Something that I have not experienced before and I'm a bit a loss over whats causing it. We have had massive polyp bailout on some of our LPS corals. They have all been well established corals that have been in this tank for over 6 months and came out of our previous tank from over a year.

There have been no major lighting changes or flow changes since they have been placed in this tank. Its has been from both sides of the tank also.

First it started with a frogspawn. It shrunk up one day and then the next started dropping a head a day. Then a duncan colony with 20+ heads all dropped within a day. I now have an octospawn that looks like its dropping too. All other corals, Acans, Toadstool, Mushrooms, Zoas all look to be doing fine.

We dose CA/ALK daily 5-6 times via dosing pump. Last tests were

8.3 ALK (usually runs stable between 8.8-8.3)

480 CA (This has been running low @ 425 but we brought it up over a few days)

1450 MG

8 Nitrate

.02 PO4

Salinity 1.025

PH 7.96-8.04

Temp is stable at 79.5

All controlled via an Apex. RO/DI is 0 TDS filled with an ATO system. Skimmer is running and collecting fine.

Water changes are done with Red Sea Coral Pro, Typically 15-20 gallons every 2 weeks. There is no SPS in the tank other than a few minor pcs.

What else can I look at and test?

[Advice] Can I cut my Green Polyp Leather coral at the base that is attached to the rock?

Posted: 06 Jan 2020 06:20 PM PST

My anemone snuggled yo against it because it likes the light and flow there. Can I cut my leather at the base to be able to allow the nem to stay?

[question] Smallest temporary tank size for a foxface?

Posted: 06 Jan 2020 04:54 PM PST

It's a complicated situation, but the long story short is, I need to temporarily (a couple months) move my foxface to a smaller tank.

I will do whatever I need to do to set him up. Cost is a non issue, but my space will be limited. Is there a small all-in-one tank setup I can buy? What is the smallest size he will be ok in?

Thanks all!
