Hey! So i really want to make a jarrarium/aquarium. I used to have fish when i was much younger, but theyre tank was very artificial. I want my bowl to be as self sustaining as possible! Ideas include, two smails (m and f) two shrimp (f and f or m and m) real plants and soil to help with the prosess. I would also love to be able to add fish. But im not sure what kind/how big. Any tips fpr a person just going into this filed? what are some good plants to use stuff like that! Thanks!

What is a jarrarium? Mods help? I thought I knew but now I'm not too sure.

So yeah, I've been here a while and it seems that nobody seems to know what a jarrarium is? Or maybe it's just a few people and me? Over the time I have spent here I have seen multiple people politely debate what they think it means or people saying they don't know what it means. It seems nobody truly knows? Life within a jar? Could that not be anything really? What qualifies and what doesn't as a jarrarium by your standards? Does it have to be a jar? Can it be a vase? Does it need to be aquatic or not? Can it literally just be any random life within any random container? Could it be a potted plant? This sub seems confused about this so I feel we need to clear this up some how.

I used to think it was just aquatic environments within a jar. Then I heard it could be any container really such as vases and dishes. Then I found out it can be terrariums or vivariums. After that I saw potted plants on this sub. I also read that it can be any life at all living inside a jar or container, so maybe even a hamster using a jar as a home could be a jarrarium? I'm so confused about what a jarrarium is and I'd love to have somebody clarify. Thanks.
