Before and Afters: got this guy from Petco for free because he was so sick, this is after 4 months in a clean 5 gallon with lots of good food.

He was pure white when I got him, guess the name “Ghost” doesn’t make much sense anymore lol

Talked to my friend at Petco, the tea on glo bettas

Posted: 14 Jan 2020 11:03 AM PST

A friend of mine is the aquatics manager at Petco, I asked them about glo bettas:

-glo betta are not dyed or injected, they are spliced with a jellyfish gene. this gene has be used safely in many kinds of fish and even sheep

- glo bettas were supposed to be released this month, instead they are being released next month (Feb)

-The release of glo bettas is supposed to happen around valentines day, some stores are having corresponding betta themed events including discounts on regular bettas and raffles for betta equipment

-the price of glo bettas has not been announced, nor has the tail types and colours available

-to get the full effect, the buyer must purchase a glo tank. the smallest glo tank they sell is 2.5 gallons online and 5 gallons in most stores. he actually thinks this might increase the mean tank size purchased for bettas. There are no plans to release smaller versions of glo tanks at this time.

I don’t agree with glofish at the best of times. I feel globettas will just get even more abuse and neglect.

This is Elvis, we adopted him a few weeks ago from a not so great owner. We have been nursing him back to health! Also this is our first ever fish/aquarium.

Bought this big boy today. He has light blue- white patches on his little fin as you can see. Is that a problem or just colour variation ?

Complete rescape of my 5.5 gallon Betta tank. Old tank had 2 fake plants and a little piece of elodea. The new tank is stocked with new driftwood, Amazon Sword, Temple Compacta, and Cardinalis. Please comment your thoughts!

Emergency switch over to a new tank after a bad leak sprung in his old tank. You're getting extra bloodworms this week, Ruby! :( ❤

What do you think are the minimum requirements for a betta tank?

Posted: 14 Jan 2020 07:32 AM PST

I think the minimum should be a five gallon with a heater and a filter but bigger is most always better. I keep my betta (red fish) in a 10 gallon filtered and heated tank. What do you guys think?
