Question about a mystery snail clutch

I only have two blue mystery snails. About a week ago I found a clutch on a plant inside the tank. Everything I've read online says the snails usually place clutches above the water line. The plant I found the clutch on was on the bottom 2/3 of a 30 gallon tank. Does this mean the clutch is infertile? I've never owned snails before. Thanks in advance.
