Skin flukes..Potassium permanganate? Posted: 17 Jan 2020 12:05 PM PST Hey guys (and girls) 🎏 Today I took a sample of two of my koi's and studied it in my microscope (from gills, dorsal fin, belly and cloaca) As expected I saw few Trichodina, but I did also find some gyrodactylus, one piece in each sample. (I'm pretty sure it was skin and not gill fluke) My question is, how do you battle and defeat these small devil's? Some websites says that Potassium permanganate will kill them, but what are your experiences? Any experiences with potassium permanganate ? I've used it for trichodina with good result before. I'm living in Denmark and I know the water temperature isn't for treatment right now, but I'm preparing for treatment in the spring. Best regards, Mette [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Jan 2020 06:46 AM PST Hey all, a few quick questions. My husband and I are about to buy a bigger house with some land and I really want to put a pond in the backyard so we can have some beautiful koi. What do we do when winter comes? Will they be okay outside in those temperatures or should we put them in a tank inside during winter? Is there a heater we could get for the pond? Also, one of the houses we're looking at has a natural pond on the property already. Could we put the koi in that? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
