My first two goldfish ever are best friends!

New goldfish in main tank (which is all new fish, so basically quarantine). I’ve never seen this type of bruise before. Treating tank with rid ich (noticed a few white spots after shipping, none in store) and this bruise under his eye. Today it turned white. Tank specs in comments.

Goldfish hanging out on the bottom of his tank. Is he okay?

My dude has a white dot looking thing on his head. Does it look like part of his wen or something else? Does not look like ich to me, but I could be wrong.

My goldfish likes to be pet?!?

Posted: 01 Dec 2019 08:07 AM PST

alright this is a doozy. almost every morning (fasting one day a week) I feed my goodies (3 orandas) pellets by letting them sit in water for a little bit and then putting them in. when I put them in, however, they always end up knocking down a plant, forcing me to fix it. wheel i'm fixing it, one of them- the biggest- likes to come and muzzle against my hand. when I tilt my hand out, he (don't know sex quite yet) likes to sit in my hand and relax there. is this normal behavior or is my goldfish just a lemon?

Goldfish SOS-I just inherited a SUPER nasty tank

Posted: 01 Dec 2019 11:08 AM PST

Hi everyone,

I just inherited a goldfish in a 50 gallon tank (I think that's the right size). The goldfish is about 4 years old, and he has a white growth over one of his eyes. I think it's because of the tank environment—the tank, filter, and decorations were filthy! I have him in a 20 gallon tank with some of the old water while I clean the larger tank.

I know you can over clean a tank, which is bad! I also know not to use any soaps or detergents, just tap water when cleaning. Would I be "over cleaning" to give the tank a good scrub and new filter, and then add the old water back in with some fresh (roughly 20 gallons old, 30 gallons new)? I'm planning on rinsing the algae off of the decorations and adding them back in, minus the gravel—I read that was really bad for goldfish, so I'm adding a few larger decorative stones.

I also have some antibiotics I can add into the water, plus algae control and dechlorinator. How do I know what's too much? I really want this fish to live a happy, healthy life while he's with me!

Thanks everyone!

What's up with my goldfish's fins? (pictures)

Posted: 01 Dec 2019 09:36 AM PST

So my lionhead goldfish's fins have been reducing for a good while now- i thought it was just minor fin damage at first, however it's gotten worse and i've been treating it with Kanaplex(with minor success, i think i've been using too little of the stuff)
He's always had a tendency to sleep most of the day (until there's food involved) head down, tail up- his head touches the bottom of the tank, typically. I believe he was born deformed(for lack of a better term :( ), as he completely lacks pelvic fins and has a poor excuse for an anal fin (bless his soul)- his eyes are also giant, which makes me believe he was stunted in some way before i got him (he's always had giant eyes)
He's a gold-yellow in real life, however the pictures make him appear much paler.
picture one(he got himself unstuck easily)
picture two (i'm scared to use glass cleaner, also note his buggy eyes)
