Betta in NPT jar

Recently I added a Betta in the jar. He ate all the bladder snails also the only cherry shrimp in the jar. I'm a bit worried about nitrogen cycle whether it's going to be affected by the lost. Let's see.

I'm not satisfied with the lamp as it's a cool white 11w Phillips LED. Not sure about the spectrum it generates. I'd like to build a full spectrum 9w LED lamp with a wooden base for better growth. Do you know a good tutorial to make one which I can follow?
