Can anyone see the white speckles on Tofu when you zoom in? I'm just wondering what that is.

How much/often do you feed your axolotl?

Posted: 24 Nov 2019 08:53 PM PST

I have a baby who actively eats one cube of frozen bloodworms throughout the day every day. Is this normal? How much do yours eat?

Bottom left gill less fluffy than others. Did he scrape himself or is this a water problem?

Ok guys, so my kids won a pair of axolotls at a fair. They were doing ok but now I’m really worried.

So as I said above kids won a pair of Axolotls. My thoughts on the appropriateness of giving live animals as prizes is beside the point here... so I've tried to do the right thing. They are very very small. One is only the length of my index finger and the other is about the size of my thumb. Clearly pups...

Right so they are living in 2 foot aquariums right now. I plan to upgrade after Christmas. They are running basic filters with the flow as low as I can get it and still have effective filtration as my vet said they don't like high flow. I've also removed the gravel after reading about possible impacted bowels and I've placed live plants in each aquarium as well as large rocks and made a cave for each that seems to have made them happier.

Food... I'm feeding them earthworms from my work farm, crickets, meal worms, squid, shrimp and bloodworms... they will not have a bar of pellets.

One is eating still. I was told to feed them a large meal once every three days. I now know this is wrong and I've been feeding 1-2 times a day.

Did a big water change a few days ago, the filter stopped working and chemistry went crazy overnight. Sky high ammonia and nitrates. Changed 90% before it dropped enough... one is fine. Still eating. The other is refusing all food now and has small patches of what looks like fuzz on him. I'm assuming this is some kind of bacteria.

TLDR kids won axalotyls at a fair, got given bad care advice by 'breeder'. Salem won't eat after an ammonia spike and subsequent massive water change. Now has white fuzz on his side, local vet doesn't have a clue. What can I do to entice him to eat? How do I treat white fuzz?

Lucky seems to be settling in (the light was only on for the picture) He’s unclamped his gills and he’s moving around!

Any suggestions on bulking up/growing my axolotl?

Posted: 24 Nov 2019 12:55 PM PST

I've had my axolotl for about 3-4 months and he hasn't seem to of grown much :( I don't know if he's just small and it's normal or if there's any way I can help. I feed him regularly red wrigglers, occasionally freeze dried bloodworms, and baby shrimp as treats.
