Guppies eating shrimp pellets - Need advice!

Posted: 22 Oct 2019 06:38 PM PDT

Hi there!

I have a 3 month old planted tank with a handful of shrimp, and 3 fancy guppies. I've been trying to supplement my shrimps by feeding them pellets in a little glass dish, but my guppies go bonkers and gobble up all of the pellets before the shrimps can arrive to pick at them! I'm worried if I put more food in, the guppies will just keep eating until they keel over.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to feed my shrimps without also harming my guppies?

Thanks!

Need help. Loose a shrimp every 2 weeks

Posted: 22 Oct 2019 09:09 AM PDT

Hey Guys, So I bought my tank in July (12 weeks ago) and til then I've lost 6 shrimps, but only one at a time, so one every two weeks. I regularly check the water parameters and everything is perfect ( I use JBL tester ). I have some babies (5-8 ), 4 adults who grew up here and only 4 left from the 10 adults I originally bought. They live with 2 ottos and 5 ruby tetras (there were 8 tetras, but I realized too late that they can jump) in a 30 liters tank (about 8 gallons?). I have Cu and Ammonia tests as well. We have plants, a big wood and a rock. I changed water every week (~30%), but after a day the water got really smelly everytime, so now I only change every other week and only 15-20%. I use seachem products for the added water. I really worried about this situation, because I've lost one breeding female 10 days ago with all the eggs. I love these little creatures and the only thing that matters is to keep them happy and alive.
