My beautiful Broadtail‘s top view

Decorating progress. I much prefer real plants, but the goldfish always eat them, so we’re stuck with plastic for now. Once I get a stronger air pump, I’ll bury the bubble disk and make a spiral of small stones on top of it. (Breeder box in the corner keeps the duckweed safe.)

Where can I find a comprehensive guide to fancy goldfish types? Looking for descriptions and pictures of all the different body and tail types.

There are so many different goldfish! Japanese, chinese and thai styles of all the different body types - ranchu, ryukin, pearl, and each of those can often have different tail types - butterfly, rose, orchid, etc. I am wanting to learn about the different types, what is a good source that's pretty thorough? Thanks!

Advice on water changes with live plants.

Posted: 20 Oct 2019 05:59 PM PDT

I have a 100g tank and 3 goldfish. In the tank are live plants that they don't seem to be interested in eating. When I do water changes and clean poop off the substrate etc, how do I go about this without disturbing and needing to replant the plants? I currently use a siphon to get all the debris on the substate but it can't really be used around the plants effectively.

I don’t know how to split up my fish.

Posted: 20 Oct 2019 09:46 AM PDT

Okay I know this is going to sound bad and it is all temporary but.. I have a 20 gallon tank with 1 goldfish 3 tiger barbs 3 goldfish tetras and 2 zebra danios. The (sorta) good news is I just got birthday money so they can get bigger tanks. But for dog now I have the 20 gallon and a empty 10 gallon and empty 5 and a half gallon. I want to spilt up the fish so there won't be any fights but I don't know who should go where. Any help is appreciated. Again it is only temporary.

Earthquakes and Tanks

Posted: 20 Oct 2019 12:50 AM PDT

So I recently got a 40 gallon breeder and a metal stand but i'm concerned about it falling off and shattering if there is an earthquake. What can I do to make sure this doesn't happen because i'm really paranoid?
