Just got my new baby. He’s so small he won’t swim upto the top to eat the freeze dried blood worms the pet shop worked recommended, should I get tweezers and drop them in front of him? (I know it’s gravel, I’m changing it to sand when he gets a little bigger)

New axie parents here, plz help! This is Lemon. We’re worried bc we saw the white around her mouth today :( .. it looks irritated, kind of like a herpes outbreak.. What could this be? What can we do? .. good appetite- but struggled to bite. Gills r healthy & tail isn’t curled- no signs of stress..

My axolotl is spitting out food and I don't understand why

Posted: 20 Oct 2019 12:58 PM PDT

So I have two axolotls, both around 8 months old. Occasionally, they choose to spit out worms I feed them for seemingly no reason and I'm clueless as to why. The water pH, nitrate and nitride levels are completely fine, if any other details are needed feel free to ask me for them. If someone could give me an answer to why they are doing this it would be very much appreciated.

I asked about a swollen cloaca earlier this week but just recently got back from a quick vacation sorry for the late response. Both of my babies are still doing fine, eating and pooping is normal but they still seem to have a swollen cloaca. Or at least they became much larger then usual

This is by far the best hide ive purchased for rune. He’s literally been hiding in this thing all day long.

Question: Substrate

Posted: 20 Oct 2019 12:09 AM PDT

Hi! I'm looking to add some live plants in my axolotl tank. Currently, I have a bare bottom tank so I'm looking into substrates that would be best for both the plants and the axie. Would I need something like ADA aqua soil? Or would sand be sufficient?

Help

Posted: 19 Oct 2019 07:35 PM PDT

So my axolotl somehow got her foot stuck in what I thought was an axolotl sage filter. I don't know how long she was stuck I just noticed it when I got home from work. I instantly pulled her leg out, and it was really red. The redness had gone done a lot but she isn't using it. Should I just let her be? If not what should I do?
