This Zoa has been shipped in a vacuum sealed bag with 3ml of water for 24hrs. Do you think it will survive?

Getting my first personal reef tank!

Posted: 23 Sep 2019 01:51 PM PDT

Alright guys, so I work at a lps. I manage the fish and animals at said location, so I'm familiar with maintaining saltwater systems (they are very large systems) and have personal experience with planted hi tech freshwater setups personally. I'm picking up an innovative marine 20L gallon with builtin overflow, and coralife T5's, stand, and whatever it needs to run, for 300.

I'm thinking a frostbite clown and anemone, with a pistol shrimp goby combo (clown and host hopeful would be down the line when I get the swing of things for such a small tank. Maybe an emerald crab/pompom crab or something to further scavenge and some snails if the shrimp goby combo isn't fit for the size. I'm not set on a clown and anemone, and really is rather have some pulsing Xenia's and easier softies to have that colour going on. Nothing super difficult.

Any thing I'm not getting here? My store has very limited saltwater selection, and no corals, so I don't have experience with those beyond a few ransoms we get in and sell the next day. Essentially keeping the parameters in check is what I'm confident in, not so much the things in here I want.

Also have been looking at beefing up the filtration. Have done a mod in the past to rig a canister up to an overflow setup. Essentially the return is inside the over flow, and the output directly hooked up to the flow nozzle for the tank, with inline heater. But not sure if that's needed or would just be a nitrite farm.

Can an Emerald Crab & Tiger Pistol Shrimp coexist in a Nuvo 10?

Posted: 23 Sep 2019 08:09 PM PDT

I'd like to give my Watchman Goby a shrimp buddy but I already have a single emerald crab. Would they be compatible or would one of them have to go?

Raising calcium

Posted: 23 Sep 2019 01:40 PM PDT

My calcium is at 370 and I would like it to be around 420.

Dkh is 8, magnesium 1300, ph 8.15.

What is a good method to slowly raise it?

Live rock for nano reef.

Posted: 23 Sep 2019 03:46 PM PDT

I need live rock for a 10 gallon nano reef and I'm hoping to not have to pay 60+ bucks for 40 pounds because I can't find small quantities of it. How much would you recommend having and where could I buy some, if any of y'all are selling?

stocking all fish at once.

Posted: 23 Sep 2019 11:56 AM PDT

I would like to stock a yellow goby and a hi fin banned goby and a firefish and a tiger pistol shrimp. However i can only find them online (good shop) i was wondering if i dosed my tank with more ammonia then i could have more bacteria build up and could just add all these fish at once. They aren't really aggresive fish so i was wondeirng if this would be an issue?

Help with Hammer Coral

Posted: 23 Sep 2019 11:31 AM PDT

I noticed that my hammer coral has become somewhat transparent and I am worried there is something I am not doing correctly. I bought it about a month ago and it has already split from 2 heads to 3 and seems to be splitting again. Aside from the color it is extended and seems to be doing well. Thoughts? I have a really strong light that I'm a little worried is bleaching it. Kessil a360x on a 29 biocube running at max 25% intensity. The hammer is near the bottom of the tank.
