Thanks to this sub for all the info I needed to get going.

I never really posted here or interacted much. But I paid attention to the things I needed to know to get my tank going. It's still a learning process. I would post pics but my camera can't focus on shit right now. There's too much activity. Lol. My DSLR battery is dead too. So hopefully this weekend I'll get around to making a FTS for you guys. I'll include as many pics and gifs as I can get. Thanks again guys/gals. You're an awesome community.

What kind of plant came with these shrimp? Is it safe to add it to my tank along with the shrimp?

First planted tank just added a nice center piece. Grass in front is dying after I lost power for 3 days sadly

Do I get 24 bags of this for my 10ft planted discus tank, or sand? It would cost £550 for the CaribSea.. but would it be worth doing that over Sand?

I planted Hydrocotyle tripartite, and it melted, but started growing back with different shaped leaves. Why?

Low tech carpet for my new set up?

Posted: 19 Sep 2019 01:49 AM PDT

I this gets asked a lot and I'm sorry for asking but I've read several threads and havent found a solid answer on a thick low tech carpet plant. I want it to cover roughly half my tank so 15"x12". I keep reading forums and I keep going back and forth with plans like pearl weed, s repens, baby tears, hc Cuba, or Monte Carlo. I then do more research and read that Ill need c02 which I don't want to do.

And then I came across tissue culture vs potted!?

New set up: * 30g tank * Ultum Nature controsoil * Beamswork 30" DA 6500k light * Ez green or Seachem flourish

I would love to jump two feet in but my city size living has taught me to confirm hobies first... with that said, what is the best and smallest / most manageable way to give an aqua garden a shot?

My ideal would be something to learn from. Eventually I would love to have the entire ecosystem mostly self sufficient.

All I was trying to do was rescue a betta...help needed

https://i.redd.it/wa4h6pwl1gn31.jpg

This whole thing originally started as a betta rescue project. You know how it is - you see all of those poor little guys cooped up in the tiny plastic cups and you decide you have to rescue at least one, just to do your part. It was going to be so simple. A tank, inert substrate, silk plants. Maybe a tiny Tardis for added pizzazz. Easy. Inexpensive.

Then I started looking at the planted tanks you guys post here and got all *inspired.*

Now I have this freshly aquascaped 2.5 gallon tank and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of plants available to me. The tank is low-tech, but I have a decently powerful light and Dennerle scaper's soil, and I'm happy to dose as needed to get good growth.

I'm leaning heavily towards an iwagumi style tank, but I'm open to literally any suggestions at this point. I do have a 10 gallon reef tank (you can see it reflecting off of the glass in the photo), so I'm not totally new to aquarium keeping - once things are up and running, I'm sure I'll be fine. I just need help narrowing down my plant selection. Thanks!

tl;dr How many plants would a planter plant if a planter could plant plants?
