How thick should my glass container be to reliably use as a jarrarium?

I picked up a glass cylinder "vase" at TJ Maxx that's about 10" wide and 12" high. The thickness of the glass at the top of the cylinder varies from ~2.7mm to ~4mm. Would this be thick enough to reliably use as a jarrarium? It's a great size, but I'm worried about it spontaneously shattering at the slightest disturbance. Does anyone have information about this or some good intuition about whether it will work? Thanks.
