Newbie here, jar from a creek bed. What are these worm slug things? Also what else can I add for life?

Am I understanding this right?

I've been wanting to make a jarrarium since I discovered this subreddit. Am I understanding it right that it's possible for me to just scoop up some mud and water from a local pond, seal it up, put it in some light, and watch and wait for plants and critters to emerge? Or am I totally off?

Sorry for quality, but I found this little baby in my jar just now, I have 2 zebra snails I got from pet store yesterday, can’t be a baby from them, maybe from the plants I put in last week?

What soil do you guys use?

Wanting to start a snail or maybe shrimp jar that'll be 3 gallons. I don't think the pot mix I use for my plants is going to be good and I don't really have access to proper soil outside, is there any specific one I should buy? I'll be putting sand and some pebbles on top anyway but I'm scared fertiliser May leek into the water and kill the critters

Cube

Hello,

I recently got a 1 gal capacity glass cube. I wanted to use it for some of my anubias and java fern.

I am conused as to what to do. I don't know whether to do a Walstad method container, which I was told needs fauna to work, or a jarranium. To be honest I am confused about the difference between the two.

If in fact I need any kind of creature such as snails or shrimp, will they need a heater?

Supply list on hand

Cube Anubias Java Fern Organic soil Clay substrate Gravel Heater if needed. I am in the US West Coast

Anyone using 3 gallons jar for betta?

Wondering if it's possible as doing a walstad no filter tank means heavily planted, which means there wouldn't have much space for the betta. I'm assuming 3 g is the minimum for a betta.
