Posted: 21 Sep 2019 03:54 PM PDT Hello lovely people, I'm here hoping to get some good recommendations. What are some good floater plants that I can have with my two fancies? I think Bubba has trouble seeing his food pellets when I drop them in due to the brightness of my light, and I also just love the way floating plants cast shadows through a tank. I have tried duckweed, and that was a HUGE mistake because these loveable little monsters ate it all with a quickness! Hornwort was also easily and quickly destroyed. So I need some large leaf, tough plants that they won't easily be able to mess up. I currently have Amazon sword (free snacks), Java Fern, and Anubias in various places throughout the water, and a couple of Pothos clippings growing roots hanging out of the top. Thanks for any advice! 🥰 [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Sep 2019 11:23 AM PDT Several of my goldfish have died and all have experienced the same symptoms. Swimming lethargically, not eating (if they did, they would spit out the food), having difficulty swimming upright, and swims frantically when lights are turned on or any sudden movements. Water parameters are good; 0 ammonia and nitrite, 10 ppm nitrate, 7.8 pH, and water hardness is ideal. My tank is 50 gallons and I've never had more than 3 goldfish in their at once. I have a hunch that it might be the sand I have in my tank where they maybe getting sand stuck in their GI tract since I do feed them sinking foods. But I've never heard of sand being an issue for goldfish. I even make sure to rake the sand before doing water changes so that gas bubbles don't build up in the sand. I am confused as to what maybe the culprit. If anybody can chime in as to what they think could be causing my fish to die! Thanks! [link] [comments]

Are my daily water changes stopping the cycle from establishing? Posted: 21 Sep 2019 06:31 AM PDT I have a 65L tank with 1 fantail, 1 black moor and 1 apple snail. Started it on September 2. I have Seachem's Ammonia alert badge inside and do daily water changes of 50%, since every day the badge registers 0.05ppm unionized ammonia which is the ALERT level. I use Prime and Stability with each water change and test the parameters daily. Ammonia- 0.025- 0.05ppm and climbing if I don't do a water change Nitrite-0 Nitrate- 10ppm - checked the tap water and it has the same levels of nitrate. Oxygen- 10ppm/L pH- 7.2-7.6 Bare bottom tank with overhead sump filter and an additional filter sponge. Sump contains filter floss and Seachem Matrix. My concern is that it's been 3 weeks and I'm still not seeing any nitrates. The fish are doing well, eating, healthy, but I'm worried that my daily water changes are preventing the cycle from developing. Is that possible? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Sep 2019 08:01 AM PDT I rescued a goldfish from a bad owner almost a year ago and it's always been completely white. This morning when I wake up I see that it has a really yellowish tone and I'm very concerned, is this supposed to happen or is it at least normal? is it going to be okay?? in case it's not, what can I do? he/she acts like usual but still I'm afraid for the little fella :( [link] [comments]
