Got a new centerpiece of wood. Going to add a few more plants to the back to hide some of the hardware but overall, I like it.

My son brought these home from the fair; they appear to be doing very well. From a kitchen bowl to their own aquarium.

My new buddy, Vlad! He was labeled as a ranchu in the pet store but I think he was either mislabeled or poorly bred, but that’s okay I love him! The store owner said he’s been there for months cause nobody wants him since he’s ugly. I think he’s adorable!

Goldfish Hovering After Water Change

Posted: 28 Sep 2019 09:33 PM PDT

Hello, I just did a 50% water change on my 60 gallon tank. (First time with the Python). One lionhead is hovering in the corner about half the height of the tank. Not really moving too much only to readjust himself to stay in that one spot. The other two are swimming around just fine, foraging through the substrate. If I walk up to the tank, he swims around with the other guys, but when I leave he just goes right back to that spot to hover again. Does anybody know what he's doing? Is he alright or should I be more concerned. Thank you

Goldfish not eating/huge ucler/acting weird

Posted: 28 Sep 2019 02:05 PM PDT

Hi. I have a goldfish in a 55-gallon tank, along with four other goldfish (5 fish in total). In the past few days, I've noticed that it hasn't been eating, like it would eat a pellet, try chewing, and then spit it out. That specific goldfish is by far the largest in the tank (roughly 10-11 inches long), and about six years old, so I don't think size is an issue. About two weeks ago, it also started acting erratically, swimming around way more than usual, while the rest of the fish in the tank seem unaffected, and the tip of its mouth has started to have skin peel off. That specific fish has also had an ulcer just in front of its tail fin for a long time (2-3 years) that has appeared to heal (have transparent scales grow over it, stop swelling) and then suddenly get worse (change to a more reddish color, swell, sometimes have scales fall off), repeatedly over time. The ulcer is roughly 3/4 of an inch wide, and stretches from the top to bottom of that area (1inch). However, in the past month, its ulcer has suddenly worsened, becoming considerably worse than any other time before, and spread to the top area close to its tail fin, becoming very red and swelling considerably. The scales in that top area are gone, and I'm pretty sure raw flesh is showing. I'm not sure if the fish is affected by it since it still has full use of its tail fin. I've been treating the water with Melafix for these past two weeks, but nothing has changed, if not worsened. I've also noticed that the fish, when sleeping/resting, is always at a roughly 45-degree angle from the horizontal. I don't know if any of these are related since the fish has had the ulcer for a long time and been seemingly unaffected. Here's an image of my fish, taken today: https://imgur.com/a/i8xXbm9. Thanks for any help and let me know if you have more questions. This fish has been with me since elementary school, and I really don't want it to die on me rn. I know that my tank size is smaller than what's recommended, but this is the largest I can afford at the moment.

edit: I don't have access to water testing kits, but since the rest of my goldfish are acting normally, I don't think water quality is an issue.

Planted tank people

So I just got my aquarium co op easy green today which is also water change day. Did my normal maintenance this A.M and recieved my fertilizer about 3hrs ago. Normally I would wait to dose until tomorrow but me being me wanted to immediately try the new fertilizer. So I followed the directions and then I tried to feed my little water family about an hour later. Not one of them would eat (also new food, repashy super gold). All of the sudden they were synchronized gasping for air. I had to turn my bubble wall on way early to create more agitation and help diffuse the co2 in my tank (running). Has anyone witnessed this before? Maybe not with this exact fertilizer but with fertilizer in general maybe? I will also mention they never do this and never even go close to the top as I have good movement.

Do goldfish get bored?

Posted: 28 Sep 2019 03:48 AM PDT

My goldfish have a log to hide in but it seems that whenever I leave they house, and sometimes now even when I'm in the room, they'll just sleep at the bottom. Is this natural or boredom, and if boredom, what can I do to help entertain them?
