- This is Chandler!! A teacher gave him to me in this wretched bottle; her class was learning about ecosystems by putting these little babies in a sealed bottle with a plant. There were only two left out of about sixty. Now he’s in a twenty gallon quarantine and soon, a pond! <3

Help identifying disease/fungus (large white bumps) Posted: 27 Sep 2019 05:48 AM PDT Hey everyone, About 2-3 weeks ago one of my fish got a small white bump under his eye. After a small bit of research, I (mistakenly) found and concluded that it was a harmless disease that would go away on its own (I had found an article or post mentioning that, it wasn't a random assumption). Recently it's grown out quite a bit, and appears to be some kind of white external fungus growing around the eyes and on the side of the fish. At least one other fish also has early symptoms of this on their side. Does anybody know what this is, and how it can be treated? Images: https://imgur.com/a/13OUYGN Zoomed in circled pic: https://i.imgur.com/RKYD5UP.jpg (On a side note, the fish in the images has always occasionally floated to the top, but then 'woken up' and swam back down with no issue. It seems to occur frequently with the current fungus/disease. If anyone knows what could be causing this additional problem, please do let me know.) A new fish was added around 3 weeks ago too, at the same time I noticed the white marks, so this issue was present before then. There have been no other recent changes, and have been no living plants in the tank for over a year. Only goldfish are in the tank. Edit: It's possible that the other fish haven't got the same issue, despite what I mentioned above. It could just be a missing or lightly coloured scale on 2 of them, the blemishes are pretty small. But that's what I originally thought it was with this one, which has since grown. [link] [comments] | ||
