- Rescued from a carnival game three days ago. The black one passed away last night, I assume because of stress and bad environment he was in before. I am new to aquarium goldfish. Do I need to do a complete water change to make sure the gold one stays alive?

Posted: 22 Sep 2019 03:43 AM PDT Hi guys. Things have went really downhill since I introduced Lenny to Barts tank. It was all good for the first day or two then Bart started showing signs of (I think) swim bladder. I was advised by the aquatics shop to immediately treat the water with anti internal bacteria stuff. I've put Bart in a hospital tank that has already cycled, all parameters are great so I thought the great water conditions would help him recover. Over the last couple of days he has lost the ability to eat and swim. He is floating on his side barely breathing. The only reason I know he's alive is that his gills occasionally move and he tries to flail his fins. This is honestly so heartbreaking and I don't want to do this to him anymore because it feels inhumane treating the water in the hope he'll pull back like he did from dropsy. I ordered him swim bladder treatment online that's due to arrive today but I'm honestly at the point where I don't know if I want him suffering any longer for my own hope. I tried feeding him peas but he wont eat. I cant make these decisions because I'm not experienced enough but I need more advice and help than 'your fish will probably die from this.' I've read online about clove oil but where my emotions are at right now, I can't tell if I'm thinking straight. Sorry guys, any help will be appreciated. You've all been magic in helping me and my beginners brain take care of my fish. [link] [comments] | ||
Posted: 22 Sep 2019 07:45 AM PDT I'm not sure if this is bad luck or what; I lost my first goldfish about a month ago due to a swim bladder problem and lost my other one last night to dropsy. They were in a temporary 20 gallon tank until I had enough to buy a 75 gallon. One was a comet and the other a subunkyn. The water quality was always on par for what goldfish needed. There was a nitrate spike a little while ago but I did a 50 % percent water change when I saw it. I'm not sure if there their deaths were correlated or if it's just bad luck. Before you say anything YES I know the tank is too small for them. It was just temporary until I could buy a bigger one. [link] [comments] |
