- This little guy will be making a big move from Petco plastic to a 75 gallon!

- 5 gal coming along
- This is my Mottled Bichir (Polypterus weeksii) feeding at the surface. All my other bichirs ignore floating food!
- Thing 1 and Thing 2. My two tiger Oscars. Top one I adopted from Petco. Owner had to move and couldn’t take him. Bottom one I’ve had for almost a year. I really call him little R because the ‘o’ on his fin looks like a letter r to me.
- Left my Walstad vase untouched on the windowsill for two weeks with ~2 hours of sunlight per day. Its growing beautifully!
- I took y’all a advice and added more stuff to the tank
- I just got this little guy Tuesday! His name is Quark <3

- 32G tank, Odd ball
- Are my daily water changes stopping the cycle from establishing?

Are my daily water changes stopping the cycle from establishing? Posted: 21 Sep 2019 08:45 AM PDT I have a 65L tank with 1 fantail, 1 black moor and 1 apple snail. Started it on September 2. I have Seachem's Ammonia alert badge inside and do daily water changes of 50%, since every day the badge registers 0.05ppm unionized ammonia which is the ALERT level. I use Prime and Stability with each water change and test the parameters daily. Ammonia- 0.025- 0.05ppm and climbing if I don't do a water change Nitrite-0 Nitrate- 10ppm - checked the tap water and it has the same levels of nitrate. Oxygen- 10ppm/L pH- 7.2-7.6 Bare bottom tank with overhead sump filter and an additional filter sponge. Sump contains filter floss and Seachem Matrix. My concern is that it's been 3 weeks and I'm still not seeing any nitrates. The fish are doing well, eating, healthy, but I'm worried that my daily water changes are preventing the cycle from developing. Is that possible? [link] [comments] |
