They love leafs

My ghost shrimps are 2-3x the size of my cherry shrimp. Is that OK? Or do they pose a risk? Bonus: pic of my berried(?) cherry shrimp.

I can’t get shrimp and it sucks

Posted: 12 Aug 2019 01:07 AM PDT

I can't get shrimp I'm my country and it sucks i did tons of research and was prepared to get some little Cherry's but I found out that In New Zealand we have no shrimp and we can't import them.

My question is, what's the next best thing? Is it an insect or a type of fish? I just need to fill up the lack of skrimp in my life.

Pros and cons of a thin stratum layer

Posted: 11 Aug 2019 03:38 PM PDT

I'm looking at setting up a secondary tank and was curious about how much stratum I actually need to get the benefit of it. It seems like I see a lot of tanks online with an extremely thin layer (just enough to cover the bottom glass) being used when they aren't planting in the substrate. I don't plan on planting this tank and like the added ease of through cleaning with a quick gavel vac, but wanted to make sure I'm not missing a downside to this approach to substrate. I also have a deeper then necessary layer in my current setup so I won't need to buy more to set the next tank up.

BABYYY (red cherry)

What’s a good hardy shrimp that can live in a ten gallon, I’ve already got RCS but I’m looking for something different

I can't see any eggs in her abdomen but she definitely looks preggo, I haven't been able to clearly see under her so I'm not sure if she is. It's my first time having a shrimp (possibly) bare eggs so I just want a second opinion :)

I just got three cherry shrimps yesterday and two already molted?

Buffering substrate qn.

Posted: 11 Aug 2019 10:44 AM PDT

Hi y'all. I'm been keeping neos for about 1.5y and have decided to venture into caridina. Been reading a lot but still have qns. I'm trying flipaquatic method w the fluval stratum in rubber tub. My qn is does more substrate means lower ph in RO water? I have been getting a fluctuating 6.6-6.8. Can I achieve a lower ph by adding more substrate?

Thanks in advance.
