Just finished my first planted tank! I was too impatient and posted a picture last night with it pretty haggard-looking. But here it is with the finishing touches!

Anyone use spot light (cheap bulb holder + LED bulbs) vs those long LED lights for your aquarium?

Thinking of switching over as it seems cheaper. What are the pros and cons?

Help with choosing beginner plants

Posted: 01 Aug 2019 12:23 AM PDT

I've already got an Anubias which has done very well, but my marimo moss balls aren't fairing as well these two were bought in March, then I got a Ludwigia Repens and Frogbit recently about a week and half ago but neither are doing well, most of the frogbits leaves are browning and almost all of the ones I got are dead and I really wanted to have a floater plant in the tank. the Ludwigia is seeing some new growth but didn't have any roots when I got it, it's starting to get them now but I'm not sure how to plant it and it looks nothing like what I was advertised. I'm upgrading my bettas tank soon and want to fill his tank out but I need beginner friendly plants because so far my plants haven't done well other than the Anubias. Currently they are in a 3.5 gallon tank, and I treat with Flourish about once or twice a week, the planted ( the part that isn't supposed to be buried is not buried can't remember the name) Anubias is in are also in the fluvial plant stratum, only some of the Ludwigia is planted in the tank the rest is in a smaller container and has been soaking in treated water to try and grow the roots. I have two marimos one looks okay and is green, the other has some brown patches. Again I will be getting a bigger tank for my betta in a few days so I want to fill Out my tank with plants that aren't going to die so easily
