Help me plan my nano reef!

Posted: 29 Jul 2019 04:43 PM PDT

I picked up an innovative marine 14g peninsula from my LFS, after scoring a great deal on a used AI Prime HD, and a friend gave me an aqueon heater and koralia nano 425 for helping him move his frag tanks.

I have a refractometer but will be needing test kits, as well as a screen top (cats) and will be picking up an ATO in the coming weeks.

My plan is a low maintenance softy/LPS tank, hammers and frogspawn as well as a few zoa's and cloves, maybe a GSP.

What I need help on is stocking. I know I want to go for a designer clown, maybe a Picasso or Onyx, possibly a pair. What else could I realistically put in a tank this small?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Question regarding watchman goby.

Posted: 29 Jul 2019 02:43 PM PDT

So, here's the shtick.

I am leaving for vacation in a week, and have no one to watch my tank. Here's the specs.

29 gallon, 2 power heads, Penguin 200 filter, with a heater I can't remember the name of.

I have no corals and very few animals. A single yellow watchman goby, a nerite snail, a blue legged hermit crab, and a bumblebee snail.

My question is this. I will be gone for three weeks. If I feed them a good meal and give them a water change before I leave, will they be ok? I called a fish store near by and they said it would be alright, but I want some fellow reefers opinions on this. I don't want to hurt my fishies after all.

Transporting coral

Posted: 29 Jul 2019 12:15 PM PDT

My wife and I will be attending MACNA for the first time and I'm wondering how I would care for and transport any coral I may purchase. We will be there for the weekend and are staying Monday to visit Universal. Leaving Monday night with about a 6hr drive.

Just got my fish hammer coral last night. Question is does it take about a week for it to open?
