Posted: 30 Jul 2019 02:35 PM PDT I have a 15 gal fluval flex, it has my Betta a juvenile bristlenose, a nerite and at least 20-30 ramhorn snails. I've been noticing a few empty shells and figured my Betta got to them. A few days later there's more and they're being cleaned completely out of their shells so I don't think it's my Betta any and I think he would be bloated after all those snails. Can they eat each other? [link] [comments]
Would Molly fish and mystery snails go well together? Posted: 30 Jul 2019 08:29 AM PDT I have been trying to figure out what I want in a tank me and my bf have its a good sized tank (I think 50 gallons, but might be remembering wrong). Currently it just has a couple live plants as we are planning on moving by the end of the year and figured it'd be better not to stress our critters so much. I definitely want some snails but I also LOVE Mollies. My original plan was a few mollies, a beta and maybe some guppy but I've read that betta don't do well with snails. [link] [comments]
Getting rid of pond snails during a cycle? Posted: 30 Jul 2019 01:27 PM PDT I had some tagalongs when I got some plants from a friend to plant a new tank. Its still cycling and I'm adding ammonia daily still. I keep finding SUPER tiny snail, at first I found a few that were maybe half a pea size, but today I even saw some there were maybe the size of a larger grain of sand, wouldn't have even been sure they were snail but they found their way onto some floating plants I only put in yesterday (supposedly snail free but not a big deal since tank already had em anyway). Anyway I'm not sure I really want that kind of snail, I'd rather have nerites and/or malaysian trumpets. Can I get some assassins now, or should I wait until the pond snails plump up some more to be a better food source. How will the ammonia affect them, should I wait, its dosed to 2ppm daily, but cycle is nearing an end (I think/hope) so it might not be an issue for much longer. Is there even hope of permanently eliminating the pond snails? Maybe I should just learn to love them? I'm also asking in r/aquariums for stocking ideas for fish that might consume them, but like I said I want some snails in there, just not pond snails so thats probably not a great solution.
