Are wildtype taiwan bee shrimp significantly hardier than CRS? Posted: 10 Jun 2019 10:48 PM PDT I'm setting up a tank for someone else, and they really like the idea of having multiple shrimp species in a small nanotank with some fish. I set up a tank with ~20 CRS, ~15 blue dream, and 2 amanos. I thought that I had the water parameters for the CRS shrimp figured out (have a berried female) but lately I've been losing CRS at a rate of one every 2-5 days. Started with ~20 shrimp and have 12-15 now. Have only lost 1 blue dream afaik. I'm thinking that the CRS are just too fragile for the community tank, and I noticed that a seller near me also offers wild type bee shrimp. I hear that CRS are fragile due to inbreeding, would wild type be any better/hardier? Any experience? [link] [comments]
please help me... i’m really trying my best Posted: 10 Jun 2019 10:49 AM PDT hi! so lately i've been having some issues with a little of everything. TANK: 5 gallons 1 HOB filter 1 sponge filter (i have the sponge inside as well to cycle it into the tank and not remove all the bb maintaining my cycle. once it is cycled i'm going to remove the HOB) LEVELS: my ammonia is between 0-0.25ppm nitrite is at 0ppm nitrate is at 20ppm (but a local fish store tested and claims it to be between 40-60ppm) SHRIMP: i have mainly neos 3 jade green 1 blue bolt 1 blue velvet 1 chocolate 1 yellow or yellow back 1 amano 1 japanese (that's what it was labeled at petco) 1 dwarf crayfish (unknown as to which species it was sold to me as an orange but freaking resembles a dwarf marbled crayfish; he is in a breeder box within the tax till i can determine what crayfish he is) PLANTS: 9 moss balls 1 anubis 1/4 of a large IAL (indian almond leaf) i've been adding 1/2ml of prime every 48 hours to help with some issues i've decreases water changes because i think i did it too frequently (once a week) and it caused a failed molt issues and questions: 1. how can i maintain better nitrate and ammonia? 2. my anubis seems to be slowly dying. i cut off a leaf about a week ago and i had to cut another off today. i got it about 2-3 weeks ago... i'm just a little worried 3. does any have any good suggestions for like clip on lights that will help my plants grow? i bought some cat tail like floating greenery and they died fairly quickly, it was a little disappointing 4. i've just been having weird deaths lately. i bought some shrimp from maybe not the best store and soon after acclimating them they died. however some of them survived and seemed to be thriving and then freakish died 2 weeks later after a water change. i'm just trying to give my shrimp the best conditions to breed and live in my tank. 5. anyone have any suggestions to just help me in general?? UPDATE: it's been 2 days since my water change. the day after (6/9) 3 shrimp died. 6/10 another one died 🙃 what am i doing wrong?! [link] [comments]
