Is this enough cover for my shrimp to *potentially* have some baby shrimp survive against my 5 glofish tetra (black skirt)? It's 7-8 moss balls stacked on each other, a pile of java moss, and a pile of subwassertang on some stacked rocks with hiding places! Moss is growing slowly but surely :D

Starting new tank soon need help with water parameters for my monte carlo carpet

Posted: 07 Jun 2019 11:35 PM PDT

I have tried and failed twice on getting a monte carlo carpet. Before I used liquid CO2, 2 drops per day but the plant aren't growing. Now I'm researching on how to create a DIY CO2 system. Any advise on how much CO2 I should put in to my 20g tank? And any other advises on what would my water parameters should be in. Btw I'm not planning to put I any shrimps until my plants are healthy.

Experiment: I'm 100% Done With Doing Water Changes

Experiment: I'm 100% Done With Doing Water Changes

My tank is positioned in a way that drip filling is not an option. No matter how small the change, 10%, 5%, slow pouring. Deaths are almost always guaranteed 1-2 days after. I've read a few forum posts where people with this problem go 1 year + without a water change no issue, so starting today that's what I'm going to try. Only topping off evaporation with distilled water and ceasing all supplements and ferts. We'll see how this goes. Obviously doing much more frequent testing of water parameters throughout.

Freshwater Shrimp Grading System???

Posted: 07 Jun 2019 05:57 PM PDT

Hey, can someone give me a quick rundown on how this all works? I'm new to shrimp keeping and curious what the grading system is based off. I've gathered that it's color density right? Is there anything else, and what is the general rule of thumb for determining grades?

Starting up a low budget shrimp tank!!

Posted: 07 Jun 2019 02:07 PM PDT

I was inspired by this community to start a shrimp tank on the small college budget I'm working with! I just have a few questions: 1. Are whisker/ghost shrimp a viable option for a tank based on their lifespan? 2. Do the aforementioned shrimp need live plants to thrive or will they be okay with fake plants? 3. How many shrimp at about 1.5in per shrimp can fit comfortably in a 10 gallon tank with 2 Cory catfish and 3 zebra danios? 4. Are shrimp okay with eating algae and leftover fish food or should I look into their own specific food? Thanks so much!!

White stripe along back of RCS (tip to tail)

Posted: 07 Jun 2019 08:00 PM PDT

Hey all!

Was wondering what the white strip along the back of my RCS is. I have read that it could mean that it is wild bred or a female? Seen mixed thing so am wondering what you all think. Thank you!
