- Tank seems to finally be cycled, bacteria wise. Still waiting on algae to form now :/
- Can you guys help me figure out all I would need for a small salt water coral setup? What would the cost and maintenance be? Completely new, but trying to budget for it.
- Long Beach aquarium
- 4 month update. Added torches, hammers, Blondie's, and a flame angel over the last 2 months. It's been so much fun learning about the hobby. Any recommendations on livestock additions?

Posted: 11 Jun 2019 05:03 PM PDT It's a 40 breeder with a 40 breeder sump. Pair of mocha gladiatior clowns, flame angel, 3 red leg hermits, 3 blue leg hermits, 3 astrea snails, 3 trochus snails, and a conch. I'm thinking maybe a fire shrimp, a blenny, a goby, or a wrasse. Not sure lol. And next corals... Maybe start a zoa garden, possibly a monti? Pics in comments. [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jun 2019 03:29 PM PDT Went to bed with a perfectly healthy Hammer and woke up to the skeleton you see posted. Currently I have stocked are 2 clowns, a pistol shrimp, shrimp goby, and a cleaner shrimp in a 13.5 gallon nano reef. Was it eaten by something? Any ideas who the culprit would be?https://i.imgur.com/PKF6Xf5.jpg [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jun 2019 11:28 AM PDT I'm looking to build an eel cave using PVC for a golden dwarf. Thinking about making it about 24" long with four entrances. My question is more about maintenance for the pipe. How do you keep it clean? and ensure flow? Is that too big for a small eel? [link] [comments]
Looking for advice on protein skimmer for a frag tank Posted: 11 Jun 2019 10:48 AM PDT Howdy, I'm setting up a 34 gallon display with a 15/20 gallon sump. I'm trying to figure out what to get in terms of a skimmer. There won't be any substrate, minimal live rock and 2 fish. I've considered a tunze 9004 but was told it was too small and I'm looking at a aquamaxx fc-80 which I'm told is too big!! I need a good recommendation [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jun 2019 09:29 AM PDT Last friday I bought a tuxedo urchin at my standard fish store. Looked great and the first days he was pretty active. This morning I found him on his back, not moving or trying to tip itself back over. Helped him and put it on a nearby rock. I came home from work and found him on his back again, next to that same rock. This time he has a large hole right in the middle of his back. Not sure if it was there this morning, since I was in a bit of a rush. He isn't moving either and looks like he's missing lots of his little 'spines/tentacles'. Yesterday he was completely fine. I have 2 cleaner shrimp, 1 fire shrimp, a pair of percula clowns, a bicolor dwarf angel, 6 blue chromis, 2 hermits and 2 emerald crabs. Any ideas who or what caused this and if the little guy is dead? [link] [comments]
Experience with natural sea water Posted: 11 Jun 2019 09:20 AM PDT I made the switch to NSW 2 months ago because of convince/environmental impact but have to say, my eye test is saying my corals absolutely love it. Now I'm not sure if the total footprint for NSW is lower than RODI (given someone has to transport the water to my house for delivery thus emitting CO2) but I was blown away by how much fresh water I was sending down the drain as I made water for my water changes each week. I'm still using RODI for top off but the amount of fresh water water is drastically lower. Is anyone else sharing the same experience with convenience & coral reaction? [link] [comments] |
