I wish people were more encouraged to keep comets and commons as pets than feeders.

Posted: 14 Jun 2019 06:51 AM PDT

I see so many posts, videos, articles on fancy goldfish and it seems more people are willing to look at fancy goldfish as pets than regular goldfish. Commons and comets are kept in poor conditions mostly and yet no one in the industry tries to do right by them. Commons and comets are my favorite type of goldfish and I have kept some growing up and even though I wasn't the best at keeping them I always looked at them as pets. Comets and commons can grow long and beautiful large tails and are next to kin to koi. Who doesnt want to raise a beautiful common or comet?

I feel that places need to really stop mistreating these fish as if they aren't valuable pets because they are.

Fish Rejecting Pellet Food

Posted: 14 Jun 2019 06:42 PM PDT

We recently bought some pellet food for my goldfish and he doesn't seem to like it. Whenever he eats one, he just spits it out and the water starts polluting fast. I should also mention that we have pebbles at the bottom of my tank (could my fish just be confused?) We'd been feeding him flake food before that until it ran out. What should I do?

Anyone know what's wrong with mine?

Posted: 14 Jun 2019 05:38 PM PDT

He is sunken to the bottom of the tank, seemingly only able to be on his one side. Many scales are missing and the rest are a bit dull in color. Prior to this, he would float vertically a lot, dunno why. Tries to eat when hand-fed but cant otherwise, stays immobile. About 4 years old. Probably his time but maybe someone knows something I can do to help extend his stay? Thanks for anything bois.

Algae control for a Goldfish tank.

Posted: 14 Jun 2019 05:27 PM PDT

Hello all!

The goldfish I adopted has a 29gal tank, and the glass is covered in brown algae, I've scraped it out, gotten a bigger filter and kept up on water changes; but it's getting worse. Is there a algae eater I could get that would stand unheated water? Or any other ideas to try? Thank you!
