Posted: 15 Jun 2019 11:24 PM PDT Just tonight I noticed two of my goldfish having extreme buoyancy problems. They will swim as hard as they can to try to reach the bottom but come right back up almost like a kick board pushed underwater. This is a very sudden thing and the water quality is perfect, they have five other tank mates who all seem to be in perfect health. They have had small buoyancy issues in the past due to constipation, but I've never seen anything this serious. All I can do is look in horror as they struggle to keep themselves under water, it breaks my heart knowing I can't do anything for them with my current knowledge of the situation. Posted: 15 Jun 2019 03:01 PM PDT Hello, I have two goldfish. A common (5.5 inches) and a Ryukin (4 inches approx.). I used to feed them with sinking pallets which were small. I believe those are the normal for a tank. I got new pallets that said it is for ponds. I believed they were the same as the sinking one but I was wrong. The size is bigger. It is ok to feed them with this new pallets? I am worried about the size since I do not have a pond but I regular tank. Also, is it ok if these pallets do not sink? I read that it is not good for a goldfish to go to the surface for good because of the air. If you want to see what food I was and I am giving right now just ask, please. I do not know it is ok to share amazon links here. Thank you [link] [comments] | ||

Black spots, lethargic, swimming in spirals Posted: 15 Jun 2019 02:17 AM PDT Hi, We've had Uki for 4 years in a 20 liter tank. Yes, we know it is too small. We have tried setting up a 240 liter tank and we didn't succeed, and it broke recently, flooding the house. In the meantime, Uki has been waiting in this small tank. Some weeks ago, Uki started to grow black spots over his head that have been growing. Since it appeared to behave normally, and water parameters are OK, we thought he was simply changing color (he was half red half white, then almost all orange and now it is turning black). https://i.imgur.com/2KCgKbQ.jpg Some days ago, he started to show swimming bladder issues, he was resting upside-down (he seemed ok, though: he responded to us and was cheerful) and had bubbles in his poo. We opted to not to feed him for two days and then give him peas. After little less than these two days, he couldn't swim properly: he started to be even more lethargic, resting sideways and swimming turning around in a spiral, like a corkscrew. He refused to eat the peas, and we threw some flakes, and didn't like them at firts. After some time, he ate all the flakes and even some pieces of pea, and apparently recovered. Today (4 days after or so) is resting in the bottom, not eating and swimming in spiral again. Water parameters are OK. Can you please give us some advice? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
