- Hi there!! I was wondering if anyone could help me identify what kind of crawfish I have. I found her in the delta near discovery bay in California. I found her today but she was in a sample of water Hyacinth that I collected for a project about a week ago.

Very suddenly acquired a crayfish, trying to figure it out Posted: 14 Jun 2019 10:45 PM PDT A man in my neighborhood was looking for someone to take his crayfish in, since he was moving far and didn't feel he could keep the little guy alive. I took a look at him, and even with really no knowledge I could tell his tank was way way too small and ridiculously dirty. So I took him in and I'm trying to do as much research as I can. Upgraded him from a 5 gal (he's about 5 inches) to a 20 gal. Set up a heater although I've heard it's not always necessary with freshwater creatures, I wanted to play it safe and I've got the tank sitting at 70 degrees (Fahrenheit), a filter set up, a light and some hide-y holes. He seems okay so far, he's moving around a lot but he did that in the small tank too, he seems very active. I tested the pH levels and we're sitting pretty good right now, actually about equal with his other tank which he lived in for about 2 years. I know this is very long winded I am just very nervous and particularly sensitive when it comes to critters, so I guess my main concern is that while all seems fine now I am missing a sign that something is wrong? I didn't get to cycle the tank very long but I did put some items from his old tank as well as some debris from his older filter to try and get some bacteria in there. Is this enough???? Is he going to be okay???? [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Jun 2019 03:14 PM PDT I saw a couple Orange Mexican Crayfish a few days back. I wanted to know what kind of setup I would need for a single crawdad and if one of those 1.5g "betta tanks" would be sufficient space. Any info is greatly appreciated [link] [comments]
