Just bought a house with a small koi pond. Looking for help.

Just bought a house with a koi pond. It's been there at least 4 years, as it was installed multiple owners ago. the family I bought from had no idea what to do with it and just left it alone.

picture but fish aren't visible

I've seen 4 fish, all maybe 3-4 inches tops. Presumably they've been eating algae/insects. The water is murky, and there is a small waterfall and two stone features that shoot water, although one has stopped working. I'm not sure where the pump is actually..it seems like the deck was built on top of it so that it was out of the way.

I don't have much experience with fish but I'm wanting to jump in here. I bought a test kit (drops, no strips) and everything except for the ph was fine. Ph came out to about 9. My guess is that this is related to the murky water? Hoping to fix this as soon as makes sense so that the fish aren't harmed.

Anything I should do? I was thinking getting some aquatic plants would be a good thing to try, but not sure what would be a good choice for the size. Hoping that I don't need to clean the pond or dig up the landscaping.

Also thinking i need to find the pump and clean the tubes. The one feature not working and the pressure being low on others makes me think it's getting clogged up.

Anyone have a mud pond?

I'm wanting to build one! How many gallons per koi? For fingerlings?

And will any clay in the ground work? I'm planning 6-8 feet deep and by 15 feet or so

Just cleaned a Oase Biotec Screenmatic pond sponge filters fully with tap water have I screwed up?

Hi I'm hoping for a little advice, in case I've messed up.

Today I cleaned out my pond filters (Oase Biotec Screenmatic) fully with tap water. I have subsequently learned this is not the way to do things. In some hope to get the bacteria thing kick-started, I added a pond bomb to the filter - as suggested on the packet.

Will the fish be okay? There are about 15-20 koi in various sizes. The pond is about 6 metres, by 3 metres and .5-1.5 deep

The pond itself was looking rather murky which is why I did it. I'm hoping that some of the bacteria in there will get dragged through the filters.

Any advice would be appreciated.
