- What kind of shrimp is this? Got it when I had my first blue velvet, this one was a little shrimplet that got stuck in the net, I’ve let it grow to see the outcome, but I have to say that I’ve never seen such type.. seems like a “wild shrimp” I guess? More photos in comment.

| Posted: 16 May 2019 10:12 PM PDT Tank: 30L nano Filter: eheim classic 250 with Seachem media Parameters: temp-24c, pH-7.5, gh-6, kh-4, NO2-.02, NO3-1, TDS-180 Tank mates: 2 netrites, 2 otocinclair All of these have been stable for the last 2 weeks. I've got about 7-9 shrimp now. I give one food pellet (aspirin size) every 2 days. I do a 2L water change every week. Last two days in a row a shrimp dies in the night. I can't figure out why but I'm worried. I've got a berried blue in there and I'm worried that I am not providing a healthy environment for my buddies. Please help me, they all look healthy. I keep the light on 8h a day. They seem perhaps lethargic most times. They don't move around much. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 16 May 2019 03:58 PM PDT I was checking out my tank just now when I saw one of the shrimp acting weird. He was perching on a leaf and sort of spasming - arching his back and getting stuck on the leaf. Within minutes, he fell off, barely able to swim and just fell to the bottom. I grabbed the net and chased him around and took him out to separate him from the other shrimp. I think he was dying from bacterial infection. Now he's in a cup, he can barely move and I think he's close to death. I tried putting two drops of hydrogen peroxide in the cup to see if I can cure him. Is there anything I can do? His body is cloudy, which is consistent with the bacterial infection. I'm really upset. I've been trying to save my shrimp and 9 of them including this one have already died from the mystery disease. I called my lfs but he couldn't help me. I lowered the temperature and they stopped dying for two days and then this morning I found a dead shrimp, and just now the dying shrimp. I even named them and everything Dx [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 16 May 2019 11:52 AM PDT How much of a temperature change can shrimp cope with? I have an apartment where we lower and raise the AC from 74-76 everyday. Can this cause issues with a 5 gal tank? [link] [comments] | ||
