What's the dumbest mistake you've ever made, setting up or caring for a saltwater aquarium? I just made a real doozy.

New setup in a Fluval EVO 13.5. About two months old. Cycled with live rock and sand. Everything appeared to go as it should ... water chemistry has been spot on for over a month. Regular water changes. Clean up crew added several weeks ago, at which time I changed the carbon bag, but didn't rinse the mechanical filter or touch the biomax bag. Everything has been going swimmingly.

Thinking I might add an inch or so of fish this weekend, I did a 40 percent water change and went to clean the filter.

You guys.

The biomax bag was still in its plastic wrapper.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Water had penetrated. But no flow, obviously.

So got the Goby but the LFS had no pistol shrimp with him or for sale, im wondering if it would feel better if i get a pistol shrimp? Its only been 3days now but it isn't moved from its spot.

Just recently purchased the intank media basket with the above skimmer. Anyone have any experience with these? This will be the first skimmer I've used in the three years I've had my tank, I can't wait to see the results.
