| Switching to RO from hard well water, advice on plant problems and best plant buffer? Posted: 15 May 2019 10:52 PM PDT Hey so I am having issues with my well water and various plants seem to just keep dying no matter what I do. My Ph is about 7.8, GH IS 6-7 And KH is 9. I keep up weekly 25-40% water changes, fertilize weekly with tropica fertilizer, and have ADA aquasoil in one tank and gravel with tropica root tabs monthly in the other. Hygro pinnatifida can't seem to grow, it either stays the same size or slowly dies off. My other hygros seem to slowly die off too. Nothing seems to really be thriving and so I want to transition over to RO with a good plant buffer. Any tips on what I might do to make my plants thrive or possible problems? What would be suggested as the best buffering salts for plants? I have red cherry shrimp in one tank too, so a buffer that works for them would be optimal too. Thank you in advance, I love my plants and it breaks my heart to see them struggling 💔🌱🌿 [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 16 May 2019 12:53 AM PDT Hi, Has anyone tried clay peat balls in their substrate? Such as these: https://aquaplantscare.uk/shop/aquatic-plants-fertiliser/pinia-clay-peat-balls/ I'm wondering if they have any effect on the water chemistry or if they just provide a boost for the plants in an inter substrate. I'm using DIY Osmocote root tabs at the moment but some of the small beads make their way to the surface of the substrate eventually which is driving me mad. Any experience at all that you're able to share would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] | ||
