From December to May

After 9 months of trial and error I finally completed my tank. I have 8 species of plants and 6 species of animals. What do you guys think?

Posted: 26 May 2019 10:17 PM PDT

After some advice, I had made some changes! Now I only have 2x female GBR, 1x honey gourami, 1x hillstream loach, 2x zebra nerite, 3x amano. Still overstocked but much lighter than it was. Added about 6-7 more plants too. Kinda messy but I love the jungle. No fighting going on now!

How often do you clean your filter?

Posted: 26 May 2019 09:56 PM PDT

I have a 55 gallon with a canister filter rated for 100 gallons.

It took 5 weeks to cycle and it's been up probably 4 weeks beyond that. I haven't cleaned the filter yet? Y'all think it's time? I REALLY don't want to shock it.

How to plant and carpet pearlweed?

Posted: 26 May 2019 10:12 PM PDT

Hi guys,

I got a ball of pearlweed that hitch hiked on a shipment of crypts, with the leaves entangled within the roots. I did my best to separate them, but the roots are still somewhat filled with leaves. I decided to just plant them, and I did so by burying the plant and then brushing off the soil until the leaves were outside of the soil. Did I do this right?

However, I do want it to carpet, so how do I do this? I use ada amazonia aquasoil and have low-med lighting (2-3watts per gallon), no co2 but I can inject excel.

Cheers

Root tabs and liquid ferts together?

Posted: 26 May 2019 09:36 PM PDT

Just wondering what other people currently think about using both root tabs and liquid ferts together. I picked up some flourish tabs and thought about placing them in my eco complete for my heavy root feeders.
