| can you use a reptile heat pad to warm a jarrarium? Posted: 07 May 2019 03:12 AM PDT Want to warm my jar so I could potentially live stock it. Anyone have experience heating their jars like this? Also don't want to burn down my house [link] [comments] | ||
| Questions and advise appreciated into a new world. Posted: 07 May 2019 03:56 AM PDT Good Day Jarrariums, Have been lurking for a while, and thought it was time to say hi and get some advice and feedback on some ideas i have for setting up my first jarrinium. I have had tropical community tanks for about 20 years, everything from 400L planted(no co2) to little 50L sand and wood only tanks, but have never got into anything as small as hours of entertainment in a jar.(2g ish) I have been looking into various options and have decided to give the Walstad a miss, i have tried sand capped dirt substrates before, and have always had issues of one sort or another, also really don`t like the look of it. So have decided use Seachem Flourite Black, i`ve used it before, like the look, but, anyone know of any issues i might come across? Plant wise-Monte Carlo carpet-Java moss wall using slate and mesh to hide the smallest pump and sponge filter i can manage(more for water movement than anything else) a few dwarf water lettuce and some bog or mopani. And in 4/6 months, maybe some cherry shrimp to go with a few ramshorn. Now assuming no big issues with the above, And please shout loud if you see any, i have a controversial question for you all. I want as little noticeable flow in the tank as possible, but i do want water movement, sooooo,,here goes, can you see any issues with using the sponge filter to run a reverse flow under-gravel return, looking at non restricted flow rate of about 1l/min. I know cleaning the return would be impossible, but with the sponge to get most of the particles out of the water, minimal flow rates, and the ability to just disconnect the under-gravel return if needed. Is there anything i am missing. Any and all criticism/advice gratefully welcome. And with thanks Lance [link] [comments] |
