is my fish being mean/aggressive or is this normal?

Posted: 24 May 2019 07:19 PM PDT

i have three goldfish in a massive storage container i bought for them, water levels are fine and i feed them once a day one of them minds his own business but two of them are constantly together. i've noticed this is because goldfish 1 is following goldfish 2 around and bumping him into things, like jolting his body around and just acting like a general nuisance. is this them playing or normal behaviour? when it's dark all three of them crowd together in one spot like they're cuddling together and they've always done that so they appear to like being close

edit: i'm not ready to be a grandma

75 gallon tank-shubunkins or.....

Posted: 24 May 2019 12:51 PM PDT

At a fair I won-hold your horses, I know what you're thinking, it wasn't a fish! Haha, I won a 75 gallon tank. Came with stand and filter-the works. Right now I've got a 36 gallon Indian tank (odessas, zebra loaches, zebra danios, mystery Barb) and I wanna do something a little different, but I'm pretty much settled on goldfish. I like shubunkins in particular, they have color and are just gorgeous. Not so into ranchus or orandas. Black Moors are pretty cool though. So what say you all? Thanks for reading.

Got a small win today

Posted: 24 May 2019 07:10 AM PDT

I saw someone asking for a small tank to put goldfish in. I politely suggested a betta stating that goldfish need a large tank. Thankfully I got a good response and they're going to get fish that's appropriately sized for the tank. Yes!

Setting up a ranchu fish pond. Any advise for the filter?

Anyone know what this is? Not the eye, but the white patch on her side? I think she might’ve lost scales somehow, but just wanted to be sure

So I setup my office tank, to discover it's too small

Posted: 24 May 2019 11:34 AM PDT

I'm fortunate to have my own office and decided to go back to fish keeping. I got a wonderful 20 gallon and just finished setting it up today for some fishless cycling before I stock it. I was really looking forward to putting 2 Lionheads in there, until I found out that the tank would be way too small for them. So, couple of questions:

(1) What size tank would I need to house two lionheads comfortably? And I'm assuming even if I only got one, the 20 gallon would not be large enough for them to grow in? (2) Assuming I bought juveniles, how quickly would they outgrow the 20 gallon tank? I'm thinking to setup a tank that's large enough at home, but if I was able to house them for a few weeks in the office tank and then transfer them, maybe that might work. (3) Are there any good algae cleaners that can peacefully co-exist with goldfish?

Thanks for any help

Tumor on tail?

My new fantail goldfish is attacking my older one, what to do?

Posted: 24 May 2019 04:08 AM PDT

I have had one fantail goldfish in a 30 gallon for a couple of months and felt bad that he was kinda lonely. I bought another fantail and quarantined him for 4 weeks just like the online advice has told me, and as soon as I set him in the new tank, he started chasing my older fantail. At first I thought it was playful, but I could see my old fantail was very stressed. He had clamped fins. After about 10 minutes the new fantail started nipping at his tail and that's when I grabbed my net and pulled him out. What is going on? What do I do?

Rescued Goldfish Turning Black

Hi everyone,

So at work they got a tiny tank and stuck two goldfish in there. One single tail and one fancy. Naturally the fancy one got bullied at feeding time and the tank had only been cleaned once in over a month, by me. Eventually the fancy was not doing so good, he was floating upside and couldn't control his swim bladder. I have a spare tank that is roughly 100l (I got it free) and some spare equipment so I took the little guy home. Obviously there was no time to cycle the tank or anything and I don't have a light since it was a bit last minute. Anyway, Eugene's fins were turning black which I assumed was healing from ammonia burns, but he's now, about a month later, pretty much black all over. He seems to swim fine, lapsing occasionally when it is tank cleaning time but he gets super excited for food. I find goldfish hard work and just want the best for him. What do you guys reckon? Is he okay? (Sorry for the rubbish quality of the pic)

He gets excited when I stop by, I think he's an oranda
